You work hard to provide. 

Probably working a job you don’t really like.

But you do it anyway because that’s what a family man is supposed to do.

Provide for his family.

And yet you still don’t get any appreciation for it.

With your wife, there’s a lack of connection.

She’s so focused on the kids every day that it makes it hard for you guys to even be intimate.

And to get her to initiate any kind of move on you is like pulling teeth.

So you try to appease her by not pissing her off.

Maybe you do some laundry or dishes just to make her happy for the chance of her being in the mood.

And then when she denies you it crushes you inside because it almost makes you think that she just doesn’t want you.

With your kids, they just don’t listen to you no matter what you tell them.

Which makes you become this angry dad that walks in the house having to discipline them all the time.

And at the end of the night when you’re falling asleep and you’re thinking about that yelling match you just had with your kid, it makes you feel like a horrible father.

And you get to join the 1000s if not millions of men out there that never saw it coming because they sat around and waited for that miracle that time never granted.

They sat around thinking that just because they weren’t out there chasing tail and that they were going to church every Sunday morning like a good boy, divorce would never knock on their door.

Yet those same men right now are out there spending 100s of thousands of dollars for divorce lawyers and custody battles just to get to see their kids every other weekend.

While the ex-wife is out there chasing a high value Chad or Tyrone that she can lock down to raise your kids.

That is the reality of so many men out there.

And I do not want this to be your reality.

And then I thought because she was mine and we exchanged vows till death do us part, nothing could take her away from me.

But what I didn’t realize is that I could push her away by inability to step up and lead.

When she married me I was an ambitious, confident rapper with dreams.

And aspirations who made her feel like a queen and 2 years later I became an overprotective, overweight, Manchild who lost his dreams becoming insecure, and addicted to entertainment.

I ignored her every single evening after work by putting on headphones and playing in a fantasy world.

Rather than leading her the way she deserved so that we could thrive as a family.

So naturally when I failed to give her the time and attention she wanted from me, she fell out of love with me.

Not knowing what to do at the time, I turned to my mentor who I call Pops and he changed my life with one conversation through a simple revelation.

He said to me,

“Son, you’ll never be able to control what another person does, including your wife.

The only thing you’ll ever be able to control is yourself.

If you get good at controlling yourself, then the rest of the world will have to respond to the changes you make.

Your wife will respond to those changes.”

That brought me to this unique discovery of a method that I call Response Based Influence.

She doesn’t get it and she never will because we are different.

Men and women are designed to be different.

They’re designed to compliment one another, especially within the family structure.

Right now, so many men are being told to be more vulnerable and share their feelings and while there can be a benefit to unpacking that, your wife is not the one that it should be unpacked on.

I get it though, you’re operating with a lone wolf mentality where you’re just gonna figure it all out on your own.

You don’t need anybody to help you in this family leader game, right?

This is what I thought too because even after I figured it all out and our marriage was locked in, I still felt alone.

And as I grew in my own personal development, I began to see that the people around me were not growing at the same rate or even wanting to grow.

Many of them were still holding on to past lives and memories, while I had a fire in me that was propelling me forward.

I wanted to be better today than I was yesterday.

I wanted to give my family a better version of me every single day for the rest of my life, but it was hard to do it on my own.

I needed to get myself around other family leaders that had the same goal and were going through similar challenges.
